Thanksgiving and New Work
So Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. I went up to my boyfriend's parent's house in the Finger Lakes, New York. The house was beautiful; it sits right by a waterfall. Overall it was a nice, relaxing time filled with lots of food. Now its back to reality. Tuesday I go on my third week of interning at the Cotton Candy Machine in Brooklyn. Time sure does fly.
And for an art update, here are some watercolor and pen pieces that I did before leaving for the holiday.

New Work
So here's some things I'm working on. I may possibly be getting a solo show at the Passional Boutique in Philly, so I'm trying to get work done for that. Watercolor and ink seems to be a nice quick way to build up more pieces for that. And I'm contributing a piece to Crimson Stained Lace's Have a Heart For Horror Cookbook.

69 Flavors of Paranoia
The online horror magazine 69 Flavors of Paranoia has featured my piece “The Invention of Fear” in their October/November issue, Menu 14. And it's the first article on the list! Excited!
Check it out at: http://www.69fop.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=309&Itemid=354
Also, its only two days away from my first group show at the Starlight Ballroom in Philly. If you are going to be in the area this Saturday, please stop by and say hi! Tickets are $10 for students with ID and $12 for adults. It should be a lot of fun!

Frustration Beyond Belief
The internship is really stressing me out. I'm so aggravated/hurt/AGGH!!
But aside from that, the freelance work may be picking up. I'm working on the cover for Barbara Meyer's first book of her new series. I also am doing promotional things for her; I just finished making some pretty bookmarks :) And I should be hearing soon from a girl that I'm painting custom shoes for within the next week. And my Morpheus Tales illustration is done and has been sent in. Here's the finish:

News
I am now the intern for Girl Approved. I went on an interview with the lady behind the company, Heidi, and she really liked my work. I will be interning with her for two months. I'm pretty excited :)
Also on the topic of news, here's what I've been working on lately:
-The illustration for Morpheus Tales. Almost done, just have to do more tedious detail work.
-Designs on shoes for a girl starting her own shoe company. All the shoes she gets made will be custom painted, and hopefully if she likes the job I do on these trial pairs, she will come back to me for the real deal.
-And, just started tonight, a painting of Claudia from Interview With A Vampire. I love that book (and movie), and I love the concept of her being young forever, like the porcelain dolls Louise gives her. I just did a quick under-painting, which I never do, and hoping to get more into it tomorrow. Here's a picture of the under-painting, done in oil paint thinned out with liquin.
And yes, she is done on the back of an illustration board. I'm recycling :)

Morpheus Tales
So here's the progress on my illustration for Morpheus Tales Magazine. The story it is going with it called The Brother of Death, and it is a pretty badass story if I do say so myself. I won't get too much into the detail of the story, but the moral of the story ids basically the age old saying "curiosity killed the cat", or in this case, the boy. Another moral could be "Don't talk to strangers"...especially creepy old women.
She is done in oil paint. This is about an hour into the painting.

Trying to Dig
Well, after work today was spent doing more research, applying to more things, trying to contact more galleries etc. An illustration of mine is going to be used as a book cover for Bizarre Books, so there's good news. Unfortunately two shows of mine got pushed back. The Reflections Show is now October 22nd, which I will write up more on that, and I'm not sure when exactly I will know about the Lucifer Philly solo show, hopefully within the next two weeks, so I will post about that when I find out. Also have two more weeks until I find out if I got the internship at Penguin Books....fingers crossed. Agh, and my book cover job from NY got pushed back until November...hopefully I'm still getting it. So it's really a lot of waiting. My plan is on Saturday to go around to some Philly galleries I looked up and hand out my promos like crazy. I just a getting so tired of waiting around in Limbo.

Today Was a Good News Day
Today has just been chock full of awesome news!
- I am officially the graphic design consultant for cutencreepy.net. I already got my first assignment!
- Morpheus Tales gave me a story to do an illustration for for the magazine.
- I start my new part time job tomorrow, a greeter for a Hilton hotel. Easy work for pretty good pay, always nice.
- And the best most fantastic news of all: My aunt who has been battling a brain tumor is officially cancer free! How incredible is that! She is fantastic and is one of the nicest women I've ever known.

Progression of Next Watercolor
Sorry for the blurriness, the lighting was bad where I took this picture on my phone. But this is the under drawing for my next watercolor piece, so far it is colored pencil, regular pencil, and ballpoint pen. Have another one I also started today, but the drawing stage is not done yet, although maybe it would be interesting to post pictures of the progression....hmmm. Well ,here's this one for now anyways. I gotta hit the hay.

Studio Space!!
I finally turned an extra room in my house into a studio space! I'm so excited!! Now I can finally have my own area to paint, without having to worry about family/friends/or dogs distracting me. I love them all, but it's hard to concentrate when they are around since when they are I just want to drop everything and do something with them. Well, not anymore!

Drawing
Here's an under-drawing for a watercolor piece I'm doing. Have to add more bugs
I unfortunately somehow mysteriously hurt my hand yesterday night, so I was not able to work on the second drawing I had in mind to the extent I wanted, otherwise I would have posted it as well. But here's a description of it: a deer with tree branch antlers. Oh, and owls.

Possible Publications
Looks like I may have found more people to publish me! Added to the list: Morpheus Tales Magazine and Plant Healer Magazine, and then for possible book cover work down the line we have Screaming Dreams Press. Hope all goes through because that would be awesome!
Some other bites I've had: Alt Noir Magazine, KRiSPY MAGAZiNE, and Strange Weird And Wonderful

Society of Illustrators
so, two of my pieces have made it into the society of illustrators. the first is my black swan piece, and the second is one of my senior thesis pieces. i'm so excited!
here's the one i haven't posted on here yet. it is a wrap around cover for the young adult book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. the book follows a young girl who is mute because she was raped, and her journey to find the ability to speak about what happened to her.
i did this piece in oil. the bird is a separate painting that i dropped in digitally.
