Oh My...I must get better at updating this

Geez, Louise its been a while! Been a busy, busy bee lately. Balancing artwork, my job, and a complicated relationship status takes its toll. But enough about that, here's the new art!

Working on a new personal piece, as well as a commissioned piece. The personal piece is an oil painting based on the concept of the balancing act we all play between following our heart and following our brain. I've gotten into adding art nouveau elements to my work, Mucha-esque framing mainly.  Here's a progress shot; its not far along for me yet to add a straight on shot.

The commissioned piece is a digital one. Started as a pencil drawing and then I digitally colored it. She's not done yet, still have to tweak some things, like the proportions of the egg. I think it should be bigger.

Update: Phantasm an Book Cover Gig

Hello! So its been a while, I know. So, some things I've been up to: I did a poster for a screening of the movie Phantasm, and currently I am working on a book cover gig, both posted respectively. I'm pretty excited about the book cover, since its a departure from my normal sometimes disturbing subject matter, haha. The Phantasm poster was a fun experiment as well. Normally when I do digital work, I use an ink pen to draw out my lines. For this one, I knew I wanted a lot of solid black, so I actually used black acrylic paint. This is also the first time I used filters to create different effects, like the grain in the background, and the first time I have done hand drawn text.

Tree Lady

Here's something in progress for my show that will be in April, date still unknown, so when I find out I will let you know.

This is based on a couple different things. Firstly on a dream I had of a woman turning into a tree. Second, the obsession my friend and I had with the Ouiji board when we were kids.

The painting is oil paint on canvas.

New Work

So here's some things I'm working on. I may possibly be getting a solo show at the Passional Boutique in Philly, so I'm trying to get work done for that. Watercolor and ink seems to be a nice quick way to build up more pieces for that. And I'm contributing a piece to Crimson Stained Lace's Have a Heart For Horror Cookbook.

On November 11, I will be participating in a show at Black Vulture Gallery in Philadelphia, which will feature only black light paintings.....awesome right! So here's my in progress black light painting. I need to get a picture of it up here soon under the black light, it glows so bright!

Morpheus Tales

So here's the progress on my illustration for Morpheus Tales Magazine. The story it is going with it called The Brother of Death, and it is a pretty badass story if I do say so myself. I won't get too much into the detail of the story, but the moral of the story ids basically the age old saying "curiosity killed the cat", or in this case, the boy. Another moral could be "Don't talk to strangers"...especially creepy old women.

She is done in oil paint. This is about an hour into the painting.

Digital Locusts

So I'm teaching myself how to digitally paint. This is my locusts girl from the watercolor piece as a digital painting in progress, and so far I really like it.

Something In Progress

This is for a poem I wrote. I will post the poem along with it when it is finished. I need to keep making more personal pieces because I have 3 gallery shows I'm supposed to be doing starting in the Fall.
