Society of Illustrators

so, two of my pieces have made it into the society of illustrators. the first is my black swan piece, and the second is one of my senior thesis pieces. i'm so excited!

here's the one i haven't posted on here yet. it is a wrap around cover for the young adult book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. the book follows a young girl who is mute because she was raped, and her journey to find the ability to speak about what happened to her.

i did this piece in oil. the bird is a separate painting that i dropped in digitally.

Black Swan Poster

so, for my first piece for the second semester of senior portfolio, i decided to do a poster for the movie Black Swan (so good. if you haven't seen it i highly recommend it). the project isn't due for another week and a half, but i was so excited to do it that i just knocked it out in one day.

the feather is painted in oil, and the background is black acrylic.

The Invention of Fear

so for this assignment for my senior illustration class, we were asked to illustrate an inventor with his/her invention. rather than do a portrait of someone with an object, i decided i wanted to depict something more abstract. so here the girl is the inventor, and her invention is fear in the form of wolf skulls that are eating her hair. fear is her invention because fear is the manifestations of one's mind.
i used oil on illustration board.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find

this assignment was to make an illustration based on the short story a good man is hard to find. i chose to illustrate the scene in which June Star is being taken into the woods by one of the Misfit's men to be killed. The colors in the scan are off, in person it is a bit more brown. i used oil on illustration board.

Rosemary's Baby Final

finally putting this up...its been done for weeks now. still have changes to make on it.
